On July 20 2023, SPs UPI in collaboration with the Astra Education Foundation carried out phase 2 mentoring activities in the development of West Rote 1 Vocational School in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This activity received full support from the Director of SPs UPI, Prof. Syihabuddin, M.Pd and Deputy Director of SPs UPI, Dr. Eng Agus Setiawan, M.Si.
This assistance is focused on the areas of vocational education and hospitality at SMKN 1 West Rote. Resource persons consisting of Dr. AH Galih Kusumah, MM, Dr. Rini Andari, MM, and Armandha Redo, M.Sc.I were present to share their knowledge and experience with the staff and teachers of SMKN 1 Rote Barat. They aim to provide new insights and increase the competence of staff and teachers in the development of vocational and hospitality education.
Mentoring activities take place well and are structured. The speakers presented various material relevant to the vocational and hospitality fields, such as curriculum development, use of technology in learning, vocational program management, and hospitality development strategies in schools. They also provide examples of best practices and successful case studies in the field of vocational education.
The staff and teachers of West Rote Vocational School 1 were very enthusiastic and eager to take part in this activity. They actively ask questions, discuss and share their experiences in implementing vocational and hospitality education in schools. This activity is very meaningful for them in increasing their knowledge and skills in the field they are working in.
Apart from that, this assistance also provides opportunities for collaboration between SPs UPI and SMKN 1 Rote Barat. The establishment of this collaboration will have a positive impact on both parties in developing vocational education and hospitality in the area. SMKN 1 West Rote will benefit from the experience and expertise of the resource persons, while SPs UPI can implement research and development in the field.
We hope that this phase 2 assistance will provide significant results in efforts to develop West Rote Vocational School 1. With progress in the field of vocational education and hospitality, it is hoped that students at SMKN 1 West Rote will have better qualifications and be ready to enter the world of work in accordance with industry needs.
